Objective: To recognize the risk factors for infant hypoglycaemia and jaundice, and provide strategies for prevention of both conditions and breastfeeding management.
Objective: To understand the implications of birthing practices (e.g. labour procedures/protocols, medications, labour support, skin to skin care) on breastfeeding.
Learning goals for this course include identifying how various factors may contribute to the baby not taking the breast and provide techniques to help facilitate the baby to latch. This course helps to define "not yet latching", breastfeeding success, reasons for breast refusal and treatment strategies- when to use which method.
